Burring Action —
This @kutzall burr is the perfect tool to clean out this maple slab to prep for epoxy. They offer burrs with different coarsenesses depending on the amount of material you need to remove. I’m using a fine coarse burr in this video, but I’m pretty excited about a shipment on the way with some new goodies to try out.
Met them at @workbenchconference and they’re family owned and from Michigan = great company. Check them out if you haven’t tried power carving before. It’s fun, highly rewarding and satisfying to no end watching your piece slowly take the form you want.

This board went the road less traveled. Early on in my epoxy days, I made this commissioned charcuterie board for a family friend. Thought the epoxy had cured enough, & oh no was I wrong. Left it angled on top of another piece and it hardened like this.
Sure I could’ve just tossed it and started over. But I’m way too stubborn for that and wasn’t going to be defeated 😂 and yes, I did cut my finger cutting that epoxy out 🤦‍♂️🩹

What a weekend.
@workbenchconference was a last second decision (grabbed one of the final 5 tickets), but absolutely worth it. Met some amazing, legendary makers I’ve followed for years. Thankfully met some makers that I’ve been missing out seeing their content until now. Learned a lot in the classroom. Got inspired on a number of new projects we need to start designing & planning. Overall, great experience and a great community. I can’t tag all of y’all I met this weekend, but I’m truly humbled having the opportunity to share a meal, beer or just a convo with each of you. Last few photos show the blank slate we started with when we built the garage in the middle of Covid. Since then, like any shop, it’s a nonstop evolution of workflow improvement and maximizing efficiency.

That awesome custom cribbage board we made around Christmas inspired a local client to inquire about making a version that’s a little smaller & travel friendly. I’ve had this piece of figured cherry for years and this seemed like the perfect build to dust it off and bring it to life. Drilling the cribbage pin holes and delivering it soon hopefully. Thoughts?
